  • What is the consistency of your sunscreen?
Our sunscreens are fairly thick, but soak into the skin well and are similar in consistency to Banana Boat Simply Protect and Sun Bum’s SPF50 Mineral Sunscreen. We also have products with added ingredients to help fight acne, and are non-comedogenic (say goodbye to the dreaded sunscreen breakouts).
  • Are your sunscreens water resistant?
Absolutely! Our sunscreens are tested to 40 minutes water resistant – but remember to always reapply when you’re done swimming or toweling off.
  • How often should I reapply sunscreen?
Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours when outside, or after swimming, toweling off or sweating intensely. This is to make sure you haven’t wiped or washed any of the product away, and are still 100% protected against the harsh sun.
  • Are your sunscreens reef safe?
Yes! Our sunscreens are 100% organic (audited 100% Organic by PHARMCHEM Technical Services to NSF/ANSI 305-2016) and biodegradable, and therefore pose no risk to our environment.
  • Are your sunscreens certified vegan?
Purito has attained 100% Vegan Certification with Vegecert (Certified Companies - Vegecert), and all product testing is cruelty-free. No animals or animal products are involved in our product, the testing or the manufacturing processes.
  • What is the shelf life of your sunscreen?
Purito sunscreen has been tested to have a shelf life of 2 years. As with all sunscreens though, if the texture or smell changes, discontinue usage.
  • What SPF are your sunscreens?
Our sunscreens are all at least SPF50, tested to FDA/TGA requirements.
  • Is zinc oxide sunscreen good for my skin?
Definitely! Zinc is a miracle mineral, present in every cell of the body. It helps with DNA synthesis and skin regeneration. In fact, most diaper rash creams are around 40% zinc oxide – so zinc is a soothing, healing product when applied topically. It’s also a phenomenal barrier to the harsh UVA, UVB and blue light rays that we are exposed to daily.
  • Is mineral sunscreen better than chemical?
Numerous studies reviewed by Suzuki et al. (2005) have raised concerns about the potential adverse health effects caused by chemical UV filters. FDA Position: The FDA sunscreen safety review, published 24/09/2021, has confirmed Zinc Oxide to be the only broad-spectrum UV Filter considered safe and effective, whilst the 12 UV Filters below have been identified as potentially toxic and/or carcinogenic: These chemical also tend to be irritating to sensitive skin, which is why all of our products are hypoallergenic and perfect for delicate skin, even for kids and babies! Ultimately, at Purito we believe in 100% Organic, 100% Vegan mineral sunscreens, with no harsh chemicals, fragrances or chemical irritants that could cause harm to the body.
